For adults who train

The training shortlist.

Two ingredients worth understanding before buying more.

Repeated high-intensity training

Creatine monohydrate

A well-studied option for strength and power training. Choose plain monohydrate; a more expensive form is not automatically better.

NOW Sports · Micronized Creatine Monohydrate, unflavored

For adults who train. Discuss use with a clinician if you have kidney disease or take medicines.

Fill a protein gap

Whey protein

A convenient way to reach your protein needs when food falls short. If you already eat enough protein, another shake is not essential.

Optimum Nutrition · Gold Standard 100% Whey, Double Rich Chocolate

Contains milk; ingredients and other allergens vary by flavor. Compare the exact label before buying.

Only if it fits your needs Omega-3 · Magnesium glycinate · Vitamin D3

When oily fish is missing

Omega-3

Consider your fish intake first. Compare EPA and DHA on the label, not just the total fish-oil amount. Benefits are not universal.

Nordic Naturals · Ultimate Omega, lemon

Ask about medicine interactions and fish allergies. A supplement is not a substitute for prescribed treatment.

When intake or status is low

Magnesium glycinate

Consider it for a specific magnesium need. Check elemental magnesium on the label; the compound weight is not the same thing.

Thorne · Magnesium Bisglycinate powder

Not a guaranteed sleep fix. Kidney disease and some medicines change whether supplementation is appropriate.

For an identified need

Vitamin D3

Choose it around a specific need, not a high-dose trend. Healthy adults under 75 generally do not need routine screening or extra doses beyond recommended intake.

NOW Foods · Vitamin D3, 1,000 IU softgels

This product strength is not your recommended dose. A clinician can decide whether testing or a supplement is appropriate.

Why isn’t everything on the list?

Ashwagandha, glycine, taurine, arginine, citrulline and vitamin C are not default recommendations here. Their value depends on the goal and evidence; some have important cautions. A longer shopping list is not a better plan.

For example, NCCIH’s ashwagandha review describes medicine interactions and thyroid/liver cautions. We do not sell it as an everyday essential.

For vitamin D, routine screening is generally not recommended for healthy adults without a clinical reason.
